The Annual Book Drive Was A Success

Grades > Pre-K to 8

A big THANK YOU to all who brought in gently used books for the annual book drive. In the past, we have been motivated by earning a dress down day. The service committee took a hard look at our mission statement, service beyond self, and challegened students to give from the heart. We came up with the slogan "Lend a paw, to someone in need." For the four school days of the challege, students counted and recorded the number of books brought in, and each morning we would announce the new numbers. Our goal was to bring in 2,500 books.

The Cartersville Book Mobile came to school and Mrs. Miller talked about their work passing out books to children in Cartersville. Students had time to tour the book mobile. Also, Mrs. Collins, the Executive Director, for Rome Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth Spoke at flagpole and shared the work her group does to increase literacy in Rome.

Last Wednesday, we had our book packing party. During that time, students counted, sorted, stacked and packed the books that we collected. We celebrated that we surpassed our goal and collected a grand total of 4,164 books. These books will be delivered to Mrs. Collins on Tuesday. They will go into the hands of children all over Rome. Thank you for your generosity and service. Way to go Tigers!

From Coach Groves:

I am excited to introduce you to Tiger Power, a new strength and conditioning club designed specifically for 3rd through 5th graders! Our goal is to introduce your child to the fundamentals of strength and conditioning in a fun and engaging environment.

At Tiger Power, we believe that developing a strong foundation in physical fitness at a young age can lead to a lifetime of health and wellness. Through my carefully crafted program, we aim to spark a passion for strength and conditioning in your child while teaching them essential skills that will benefit them both on and off the field or court.

Our curriculum focuses on teaching the basics of strength, speed, flexibility, agility, and plyometrics. Using a variety of tools such as training bars, PVC pipes, kettlebells, bodyweight calisthenics, and plyometric exercises, we will introduce your child to a wide range of movements and techniques in a safe and supportive environment.

In addition to building strength and endurance, we will also prioritize proper running mechanics, agility training, and flexibility/mobility work to help your child move efficiently and reduce the risk of injury during physical activity.

The cost of the 8 sessions will be $50 and will include a T-shirt.

Parent pickup will be at 4:15 at the Huffman parking lot. If a student is not picked up at this time, they will be escorted to Extended Day, which does have a cost associated with it.

3rd-8th Grade Spring Conference Sign-Ups

Grades > Pre-K to 8

Spring conferences for grades 3-8 will occur on Wednesday, March 6. We look forward to meeting with parents and students to discuss progress since the beginning of the school year.

This is how it will work:

  • The number of time slots you need is based on the number of children you have. One child is one slot. No matter how many teachers you want to see.
  • All 3rd-8th students are welcome and even encouraged to attend conferences with their parents.
  • Parents are encouraged to sign up for an hour time slot. During that hour, all 3-8 classroom and enrichment teachers and advisors will be available for one-on-one meetings.
  • You are signing up for one time slot, even if you are meeting with all of the teachers.
  • Each hour will have a limited number of spots available to ensure the teachers can accommodate the traffic flow.
  • Individual one-on-one meetings will be limited to 5-10 minutes per teacher so multiple families can meet with teachers during that hour.
  • Individual meetings during the time slot will be a first-come/first-serve format.

Sign up for 3-5 conferences here.

Sign up for 6-8 conferences here.

If you are unable to meet on March 6, please send Angela Pieroni an email (apieroni@everystudio.net), and she will arrange a conference with the team on a separate date.

We look forward to another excellent day of conversations.
